A Myrtle Beach couple has been charged in connection to $80,000 worth of missing jewelry and silverware after a Murrells Inlet woman hired them to do odd jobs around her house. 

Lauren Jan Browder-Ashe, 33, and Jonathan Daniel Ashe, 31, were each charged with criminal conspiracy and grand larceny of an amount more than $10,000, according to Georgetown County jail records. 

A woman told police she hired the couple in June to come to her house and pack boxes, clean and do yard work -- the couple had worked for her before at her business, she said, according to the incident report. 

The woman said she noticed her silverware missing and then went to check on her jewelry only to find a lot of it was missing, too.

The woman said she started "calling around" and was told to call Grand Strand Gold and Silver in Garden City. She contacted the business and sent pictures of her missing jewelry. She was told a woman who fit the description of her employee came in and sold the jewelry.  

Some of the missing items included: a set of 30 butter cup silver place settings valued at $10,170; a sterling silver carving set worth $1,000; two 18-karat gold diamond necklaces with a combined value of $12,000; an emerald diamond ring worth $12,000; a platinum diamond ring worth $24,000; another diamond ring worth $12,000 and $2,000 to $3,000 in cash.

The total value of all the missing items, including the cash, was more than $79,000. 

Police contacted Grand Strand Gold and Silver to have a hold put on the jewelry. 

The missing items were reported July 11 and the couple was booked into the county jail July 13. As of Tuesday, July 18, both were still in jail.
